Why should I boycott Costa Coffee?

If you spend money on Costa Coffee you are funding war crimes. Costa is a brand of the Coca-Cola Corporation, which plays a key role in Israel's illegal occupation and system of apartheid against the Palestinian people. Coca-Cola profits from Israel's genocide of Palestinians.

How are Costa and Coca-Cola complicit in the Israeli state's oppression of Palestinians?

Coca-Cola Israel operates a regional distribution center in Atarot, which is a racist, Jews-only settlement in the West Bank. Atarot is built on stolen Palestinian land and its continued existence is a crime in international law. A Coca-Cola subsidiary, Tabor Winery, uses grapes from vineyards on illegally occupied land in both the West Bank, and Golan in Syria.

Why is it wrong for Coca-Cola to produce drinks on occupied land?

The International Court of Justice affirmed in July 2024 that Israel’s entire occupation of Gaza and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, is illegal. Israel's racist, Jews-only settlements – built on stolen Palestinian and Syrian land – are war crimes under international law. This makes Coca-Cola, and therefore also Costa Coffee, complicit in war crimes.

Why focus on Costa and Coca-Cola?

Other companies are also complicit, but these are famous, recognizable, international brands. An effective boycott from the huge international solidarity movement for Palestine will severely damage their brand image, and cut into their profits. If enough of us join the boycott we can force the Coca-Cola Corporation to end its criminal operations in Palestine.

What is BDS?

BDS stands for boycott, divestment and sanctions. The BDS movement is a peaceful, Palestinian-led movement for freedom, justice and equality, supported by many millions of people worldwide. It has three key demands:

End Israel's occupation and colonization of all Arab lands and dismantle the Apartheid Wall

Recognize the fundamental rights of the Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel to full equality

Respect, protect and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees to return to their homes (as per UN Resolution 194)
